Why join?
Beverley Minster is one of the great medieval churches of Europe and a place of daily worship, music and welcome. The cost of caring for a building of this size is real and continuous, and there is no single source of funding that can carry it alone.
The Friends exist to be a steady, generous companion to the Minster’s life — funding restoration, music, scholarship and projects too large for the parish to take on alone. Our members are at the heart of all of that.
What members receive
- A Spring Newsletter and an annual Annual Report, both delivered by post or email.
- Invitations to our programme of talks, visits and study days, with reduced rates for members.
- Free admission to the St John of Beverley Lecture, given each October following the AGM.
- An invitation to the Festal Evensong that closes the October weekend.
- Voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.
- The knowledge that you are part of a long, careful tradition of stewardship.

How to join
There are two ways to join the Friends. The simplest is online; we are also very happy to receive a paper application by post.

Complete the membership form on ChurchSuite. The form will guide you through Gift Aid and your preferred method of payment.

Give a Friend membership as a gift
A gift membership of the Friends is an unusual and thoughtful present — particularly for someone with a connection to Beverley, or for a family member who has begun to take an interest in the Minster’s music or its history. The recipient receives the same newsletters, invitations and benefits as any other member, together with a card from you to mark the gift.
To purchase a gift membership, please complete our short online form. You will then be invited to make payment securely by card. Once we have received both, we will set the recipient up as a Friend, send them a personal welcome card, and confirm everything with you.
Manage your membership online
Members can now manage their membership themselves through My ChurchSuite. Once you have set up access, you can:
- Update your contact details and communication preferences.
- Make bookings for Friends events.
- See past emails and notices we have sent you.
- Review your giving history.

Frequently asked questions
No. We welcome members from any tradition or none. The Friends exist to support the building and its life rather than to act as a religious organisation in their own right.
No. Our membership extends across the country and beyond. Many of our members live elsewhere but feel a connection to the Minster — through family, music, study, or a single memorable visit.
Subscriptions, donations and the income from our reserves all go directly into the work of the Friends. Running costs (insurance, printing, accountancy and so on) are kept deliberately low so that the great majority of what we receive can be used for projects at the Minster.
Yes, if you are a UK taxpayer. A simple Gift Aid declaration adds 25 pence to every pound you give, at no extra cost to you. You can complete a Gift Aid declaration online using our short Gift Aid form. If you would prefer a paper copy, please email friends@beverleyminster.org.uk and we will send one.
Yes. Joint membership is available, allowing two members at the same address to share a single subscription while remaining individually identifiable for events and communications. Please see the membership rates above.
Yes — we have a category of Associate Organisation which has long been used by local schools, businesses and other charities. Please email friends@beverleyminster.org.uk to discuss.
You can give a one-off gift through the Donate page, by standing order, by cheque or by online transfer. Full details are on the Support the Friends page.
