This page gives information about access to the Minster for people with disabilities or other particular needs.
The Accessible Entrance
There is level, step free access at the accessible entrance door (power assisted). The entrance is signed from the main entrance – see precinct map.
Toilets
Wheelchair accessible toilets are available in the Parish Hall. Please ask one of the Welcomers or Virgers on duty in the Minster if you require this facility.
Baby Change Facilities
Baby change facilities are available in the Parish Hall. Please ask one of the Welcomers or Virgers on duty in the Minster if you require this facility.
Parking for blue badge holders
There are two parking spaces for blue badge holders in the Minster car park opposite the main entrance at the end of Highgate.
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in the Minster at all times. Visiting dogs can be left at the parish centre or at the door.
Hearing loop
The Minster is equipped with a hearing loop system which is in use during services. Please switch your hearing aid to “T”.
Taking part in worship
There is level access to the areas of the Minster where services are normally held. On Sundays, at the main Holy Communion service, wheelchair users and others may either come up to the altar rail or ask a steward for the sacrament to be brought to them where they are sitting.
Gluten free wafers are available at all our services of Holy Communion. Should you wish to receive a gluten free wafer, please make this known to the celebrant either before the service or at the altar rail during Communion.
