Beverley Minster is delighted to announce that we have received the Bronze award as part of the Eco-church initiative for caring the environment. A Rocha website here >
A Rocha UK’s scheme encourages churches to gain awards as part of a programme to care for God’s creation as part of everyday Christian living.
This Bronze award recognises the work already done at the Minster as part of its
commitment for caring for God’s world and encourages us to continue in our efforts and, as our journey progresses, to aspire to the Silver award.
The Ecochurch award covers all areas of church life : Worship and Teaching; Management of Church Buildings and Land; Lifestyle; Community and Global Engagement.
Jonathan Baker said, “The Eco Church Bronze Award is an encouraging sign that the Beverley Minster community has begun a journey towards greater environmental responsibility and is serious about pursuing it. As Christians we believe in a generous Creator who invites us to share in caring for all creation and in bringing it to its full potential. For too long the churches have neglected this calling, but we are now committed to doing all we can to putting it right. The Bronze Award is an important first step in the right direction.”
