Christmas Tree Festival 2023

Beverley Minsters annual Christmas Tree Festival is packing 133 beautifully decorated trees into its stunning medieval building this December.

Each tree is sponsored by a different local charity, organisation, school or business. As they are free to decorate their own tree as they wish – it means every fir tree looks unique once it’s been dressed and lit with beautiful fairy lights.

Extended opening hours

There will be extended opening hours on Thursday 7 December when the Festival will remain open to the public until 18.00.  Similar to last year there will be a Quiet Session on the morning of Monday 4 December between 9.00 and 10.00 for neurodiverse visitors who may struggle with the crowds and noise at other times of the festival.  A second Quiet Session will be held between 16.00 and 17.00 on the same day (see below).

Make a Christmas Wreath

New this December will be the chance for visitors to join special sessions to decorate their own Christmas wreaths amongst the festival trees.  Led by experts from the Beverley Flower Club, sessions will run on Wednesday 6, Thursday 7 and Friday 8 – the same days as the Made in East Yorkshire Markets. This means more festive activities to enjoy across the town.

Places are limited so booking ahead will be essential. Each wreath-making ticket allows free entry to the Christmas Tree Festival and participants will also enjoy a warming mug of hot chocolate as part of their wreath-making experience.
