‘PRESS PAUSE’ PROGRAMME 2024

The Press Pause series this year builds on the pattern that we introduced in 2023. Press Pause gives us the opportunity in this busy world to set aside time in a safe, relaxed, peaceful and welcoming space that enables us to explore what it is like to experience God’s presence in our lives in a meaningful way.

Each Press Pausewill have a stand-alone theme opening up new horizons for us.

An invited speaker will guide us through the day, with opportunities for stillness, personal reflection and prayer.

Please bring a packed lunch, refreshments will be available throughout the day.

We are aware that some people may prefer to attend the morning only.

Come and join us as the programme begins this year on Saturday 24 February in the Minster Parish Hall.

Everyone is welcome, whoever you are and wherever you are from.

DATES FOR 2024:

THEMELed into the Wilderness – recognising dark times but embracing the Light’   Luke 4.1-2

‘Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil.’

Join us as we reflect on the significance of this period for Jesus, and clarify its impact for us today.

Gordon Dey:  Gordon is a retired Anglican priest living in Bradford. He has been Vicar of large urban estate communities in Halifax and Bradford.  He is the author of a Discipleship Programme entitled ‘Jesus Shaped People’ and he is a Trustee of the JSP Trust.  Gordon has taken many pilgrimage groups to the Holy Land and other Christian locations over a period of over 30 years.

We are delighted that Gordon will be joining us this year at a time when the land between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea is in sharp focus.

To anyone thinking of coming who might be a bit unsure, I would encourage you to come and just be yourself – there is no pressure to say or do anything – and simply enjoy what happens as you commit that time to leave your everyday life aside. As I did, you might be very pleasantly surprised by how much it helps in ways you had not even thought of.’
