Youth Groups
Youth Service
Our regular Emmaus Youth Service is on a Wednesday evening (term time) and meets in the Minster from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
What happens on a Wednesday night?
The Youth Service aims to develop a community atmosphere with Christ at the centre. The evening begins at 7.30pm with an icebreaker or a game, along the lines of the theme. Worship is led by young people in the Minster who set an atmosphere of prayer and devotion, leading to a brief talk on a Christian or contemporary issue.
The group splits up in to small discussion groups, to cover the theme in more depth and to enjoy and relate to the subject as best they see fit. There is often an opportunity for young people to respond to what they have discovered and learned from each other. The final half-hour winds down with toast and hot chocolate, which is always a good time to catch up on any other business and to socialise. And did I mention hot chocolate?
Night Cafe
Every Friday (unless it’s a Youth Cafe event) we hold a Night Cafe in the Emmaus Room, between 7.30pm-9.30pm.
Night Cafe is a youth club for young people 11-16 and provides a space for games, giant Wii, table football, table tennis, pool and great conversations. We also have a cafe bar so young people can buy great hot chocolates & a variety of sweets from the tuck shop.
Night Cafe is free, and young people can drop in and out as they wish during the night.
Cell Groups
Mid week, we have Cell Groups for small groups of young people who wish to explore their faith indepth. We discuss Biblical, ethical and moral themes and allow space for community and prayer.
If you are interested in joining one of these small groups, please contact the Youth Minister, Lee Kirkby.
