The flowers in Beverley Minster are arranged by dedicated members of the congregation whose skills vary from those with City and Guilds training to the contribution of small children.
Mainly traditional schemes are designed in colours and plant materials that reflect the liturgical year, with the greatest importance given to Christmas and Easter, followed by Pentecost, Ascension, Harvest and the St. John of Beverley Festival.
For the weekend of their wedding, brides are invited to choose the colour scheme and they give a donation to the flower fund. Seasonal foliage, garden and even wild flowers are used.
